Pick it! Pack it! Ship it! Sequence it right the 1st time and every time.

In today’s world, the vehicle that you drive says quite a bit about who you are. In response, many automotive producers have created very complex option packages for the consumer to choose from. This requires suppliers to supply their particular component(s) in an ever rising number of versions as a sequential part delivery method. From different trim levels, to different colors, and even different brand labeling, today’s single component now can consist of anywhere from three to fifty or even more configurations. With each additional version, additional floor space is required for both the automotive producer and the component supplier. To cut down on that required floor space and improve packaging and delivery efficiency, many automotive producers are now requiring their suppliers to sequence multiple versions of a specific component in one container. This allows what once took a storage location for each component version, to be replaced with a single storage location containing sequenced containers, thus cutting down on warehouse and production line storage space as well as material handling time. This all translates into financial savings for both the automotive producer and the component supplier.

This does however place an additional burden on the component supplier. Not only do the parts need to be perfect from a quality standpoint, but they must now also be packaged in perfect sequential order within each container. And then each container must be loaded onto the truck in perfect sequential order to support the required sequential part delivery. This is where MAN-IT’s 866 Sequencing Module software solution can reduce your cost as the sequence component supplier.

MAN-IT^® will allow the supplier to receive the sequence broadcasts (normally in the form of an electronic 866 document or an electronic broadcast) from the supplier’s ERP and translate that information into a usable build-to-order sequence for the production floor. Whether that setup is as simple as a packing area pulling from already produced parts, or all the way up to full line integration where the line actually produces parts in the required sequential order, MAN-IT^® 866 Sequencing Module can provide the solution. 

MAN-IT^® will then take those sequentially packed containers and create a just-in-time (JIT) truck loading plan so that your shipment is in perfect sequential order when your customer receives it. Throughout this process MAN-IT^® can interface to each production point and monitor station level Error Proofing (Poky Yoke) so that at no point is there a possibility that a part could accidently bypass a required check or manufacturing process providing full traceability of the process. This additionally allows for each label that MAN-IT^® prints (whether that is a part label, sequence label or container label) to be fully verified to the product it is being placed on.
